What does Solar PV mean?

Solar Photovoltaic or PV is the term used for the technology that converts the energy from the sun (directly or indirectly) into usable electrical energy.

How long will installation take?

Most installations will take one day, but depending on the weather, it could take two.  The installation will take place outside and inside your home.

Will my panels require servicing?

We recommend booking a service once a year.

Does PV have an effect on energy rating?

PV has a hugely positive impact on the Building Energy Ratings. Photovoltaic energy is produced using sunlight, a free clean and inexhaustible source of power.
Investing in PV is one of the best ways to reduce the carbon footprint of your property.

How long do PV systems last?

Most PV systems have a minimum life expectancy of 25 years.

Is a government grant available for solar panel systems?

Yes, these grants are offered by Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) and are available under various schemes.

When is the SEAI / SPV grant ending?

It was meant to end in December 2020. We expect it not to run with the ‘Sell Back to the Grid’ scheme which is due to begin in July 2021.

When is the Sell Back to the Grid / Feed-In Tariff expected to begin?

Expected to begin in July 2021.

Can you get reduced interest rates on green mortgages?

Yes, if your house’s BER energy rating is above a certain standard, you are entitled to a mortgage with a reduced fixed interest rate. For example, a home with an A2 energy rating with a 1% reduced interest rate over 25 years can result in a saving of €48,000 over the lifetime of the mortgage.
